How to Search Civil Dockets
Indiana MyCase is the entry point. Pick the Civil category and Kosciusko County. Then search by full case number if you have it. A party or business name works too. Attorney fields help when counsel is known. When results run long, trim them with Open or Closed status and a filing-date range.
Leave the court set to all Kosciusko Odyssey courts. Do that unless the number already points to one. Circuit files carry 43C01, while Superior Courts 1 through 4 use 43D01 through 43D04. MyCase tolerates a number typed without hyphens or leading zeroes. A transfer may show up in the events. Follow it to the court that took the case.
- Open MyCase and choose Case, Name, or Attorney.
- Enter the case number, public party data, business name, or attorney detail.
- Select Civil and Kosciusko County, then add status or date limits.
- Open the full Case Summary and confirm court, type, and file date.
- Read Events, Hearings, and linked orders; request missing public documents from the Clerk.
Kosciusko Civil Docket Split
Civil assignment here is not one simple dollar line. PL and CT cases split evenly between Circuit Court and Superior Court 4. PL means civil plenary. CT means civil tort. Active PL and CT files in Superior 1 moved to Superior 4 at the start of 2025. Mortgage foreclosure matters rotate between Superior 4 and Superior 3. Small claims and evictions belong to Superior 3.
| Case code | Starting court | Search point |
|---|---|---|
| PL / CT | 50% Circuit, 50% Superior 4 | Search both unless the number is known |
| EV / SC | Superior 3 | Start with code 43D03 |
| MF | Alternates Superior 4 / Superior 3 | Check 43D04 and 43D03 |
| CC | Superior 4 | Start with 43D04 |
| ES / EM / EU / TR | Alternates Circuit / Superior 1 | Use case type and number |
Because of that split, a name search across every local court beats picking a courtroom up front. Let the docket itself tell you where the case sits.
What a Civil Docket Shows
The header of a civil docket entry lists the case number, court and county codes, file date, case type, category, status, and status date. Party roles and attorneys may show as well. Below that, the chronological register can run from complaint or petition through service, appearance, answer, discovery, motions, hearings, settlement, trial, orders, judgment, and post-judgment work.
| Case number | County, court, filing date, case type, and sequence. |
|---|---|
| Case status | The portal's active or decided state and its recorded date. |
| Parties | Public roles such as plaintiff, petitioner, defendant, or respondent. |
| Events | Filings, service, appearances, motions, orders, and clerk activity. |
| Hearings | Session date, judicial officer, result, reset, or cancellation. |
| Documents | Public orders and filings with download permission when available. |
| Financials | Charges, credits, and payments that may be incomplete online. |
Trust the descriptions on the actual case. Criminal event labels do not translate to a civil docket, so never copy them over by assumption.
Kosciusko Superior 4 Civil Dockets
Superior Court 4 handles a big slice of Kosciusko County civil work. Every CC case lands here. So do all JP cases. So does half of the PL and CT caseloads. Large chunks of the domestic-relations and mortgage-foreclosure dockets come here as well. A January 1, 2025 change in local rules also moved active PL and CT cases. They came from Superior 1 into this court. So a transfer entry or a new court code on a Kosciusko County court docket can be routine history, not a red flag.
The Superior Court 4 page on the county site shows what the court itself posts about its civil docket and case handling.

That page identifies the office behind code 43D04. MyCase remains where you read the public filing sequence for its civil dockets.
Types of Civil Cases
Civil dockets here span far more than one kind of lawsuit. The case code drives local assignment. It also separates files that share party names. Check the displayed case type before opening documents or calling the Clerk.
- PL and CT civil plenary and tort matters divided between Circuit and Superior 4
- EV eviction and SC small-claims cases assigned to Superior 3
- DC and DN domestic-relations matters allocated mainly to Superior 4
- MF mortgage foreclosure cases alternating between Superior 4 and Superior 3
- Estate, adoption, guardianship, and trust matters divided by listed local percentages
- Protection-order and related categories subject to both assignment and access limits
A public case type does not make every exhibit or personal detail public. Medical material, protected addresses, sealed filings, and other excluded records stay under Indiana access rules.
Kosciusko Small Claims Dockets
Small claims, evictions, infractions, and ordinance violations all route to Superior Court 3. So do several other named categories. So code 43D03 is the practical first stop. That covers a Kosciusko County small-claims or eviction docket. Still, lean on the case number and type, since connected cases and transfer orders can move later events somewhere else.
The official Superior Court 3 page describes the local court and its work.

That page names the office. The civil Case Summary in MyCase then gives the filing, hearing, order, and status details for the case you select.
Quick answer: Start an EV or SC search with Superior Court 3, but confirm the latest court code and any reassignment event.
Settings on Civil Dockets
A civil setting shows up in the hearing portion of a Kosciusko County civil docket. Expect a date, time, court, judicial officer, display text, result, or cancellation notice. Read the latest hearing session alongside its related event and order. A reset just moves a date. A continuance postpones a proceeding. Neither entry decides the claim by itself.
Scheduling orders, motion hearings, settlement events, bench or jury trial settings, and post-judgment hearings can all appear in the register. CourtCal is a separate calendar layer. It is not a full civil docket. Its coverage is uneven: Circuit and Superior 1 appear, but Superior Courts 2 through 4 do not. So treat a missing CourtCal result as a reason to check MyCase and the court. It is not proof of nothing scheduled. The wider Kosciusko County court calendar process can help confirm a setting.
Kosciusko Civil Docket Terms
Read status words together with the final event or order. A portal label summarizes system state, not the terms of a judgment. Post-judgment events may still matter long after the main claim closes.
- Decided or disposed
- The case is no longer active in the ordinary docket; inspect the final event.
- Judgment
- A formal ruling, which may grant money or other relief.
- Dismissed
- The case ended without a trial judgment on the merits; read the order for terms.
- Default
- A result after a party did not respond or appear as required; confirm the signed order.
- Agreed
- A resolution entered by agreement and stated in the filed order.
- Post-judgment
- Later work involving enforcement, payment, the judgment docket, or another proceeding.
For a current balance or certified judgment, ask the Clerk, not the public financial summary.
Public Access to Civil Dockets
Indiana Access Rule 4 starts from a simple premise. Court records are open unless a rule says otherwise. That covers the Kosciusko County civil docket too. MyCase gives anyone a free index along with some civil filings. One catch is worth knowing. What you can see from home may be less than what the Clerk's counter shows. A filing may be missing from the web view. That alone does not mean it was sealed or never filed.
Access Rule 5 lists the exceptions. Mental-health cases sit outside routine access. So do protected treatment details, privileged records, custody evaluations, protected addresses, and sealed materials. Juvenile matters and some protection-order papers may also stay offline.
Need a public record that never made it to the web? Go to the Clerk in person. Mail the copy form, call the right office, or file the county public-record request form. Give the case number, court code, document type, and filing or order date. Say whether you want it certified. Indiana's statewide e-filing system moves paperwork for lawyers; it is not a public civil docket.
Certified Kosciusko Civil Orders
Printing an order from a docket is not the same as holding a certified copy. Only the Kosciusko County Clerk certifies. Ask for the exact document rather than the whole case file. A long civil register makes mix-ups easy. A precise request means you get the right order the first time. Older or unlinked public documents may call for a counter visit. Some may need the county mail form instead. The official Indiana court-copy-fee law sets the statutory fee framework for those copies.

The statute page is a better check on current fees than an older county fee sheet. Before mailing any request, confirm the amount and accepted payment with the Clerk.
Access path: Use MyCase for the public index, the Clerk for missing public documents and certification, Rule 5 for exclusions, and Rule 9 only for an extraordinary request concerning truly excluded material.
